‘Beamish is alive with the sound of Music Hall!’
When we first approached Beamish with our performance idea, we were delighted that they were as excited about it as we were. As you all know, CASA prides itself on the performance opportunities we can offer our students within our local community. So we set to work. No scripts to follow, no song list, no idea how it was going to work! Ten weeks later 19 of our students entertained the crowds at Beamish for almost three hours! They sang, they danced, they mimed, they were brilliant. We were based in the Masonic Hall and whilst we had a dedicated, seated audience of friends and family, we had to contend with some audience members who walked through the hall as if we were part of the museum! It was wonderful to see them smiling and even joining in with the songs! Our students were not fazed by the outside noise and gave two top notch performances to rapturous applause. We were fortunate enough to share the stage with Houghton Area Youth Band who added a wonderful live music element to the performance. We hope to work with them again in the future. We must continue to showcase the talent that the North East has to offer!
